Creating memorable spaces by re-imagining natural essence
Lake Osecola is the central keystone element to the Coral Gables campus of the University of Miami. Working in Collaboration with Ben Skavnak, we intention was to create a floating "urban furniture" installation inspired by the Banyan tree that mirrors its position on the lake. The banyan tree's prop roots suffice for a solid connection to the ground as represented with concrete custom cast piloti. A rehabilitated Florida mangrove wetland would act as a back drop to the new circulation path across the northwestern end of Lake Osceola.
